74,000 Independent Houses to Be Delivered in Kahramanmaraş This Year

After the devastating earthquakes of 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude that hit Pazarcık and Elbistan, the construction of new homes for the earthquake victims whose properties were either destroyed or severely damaged has been a top priority.

Following the earthquakes, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, along with the Housing Administration (TOKI) and the General Directorate of Real Estate Housing and Construction Affairs, have worked tirelessly to coordinate the building of village-style homes and 4 or 5-story residential buildings.

Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer has emphasized that all independent units laid on the foundation will be delivered to the rightful owners by the end of 2025 as part of the efforts to address the housing problem post-earthquakes.

“We have already handed over 34,600 houses to our citizens through a fair draw system,” stated Ünlüer. “Our goal is to deliver around 74,000 independent units by the end of 2025.”

Emphasizing the round-the-clock work being carried out for permanent housing solutions, Ünlüer explained, “We have already allocated 37,348 areas for development, 22,137 transformation reserve areas, and 13,965 village houses, totaling approximately 74,000 independent units. Construction is ongoing, and many residents have already moved into their new homes.”

Furthermore, Ünlüer mentioned that if the demand for homeownership continues to increase, additional houses will be constructed beyond the 2025 target.

The efforts to provide housing for those affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş continue to progress, with a goal of ensuring that all citizens have safe and stable homes for the future.
