As part of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Turkish Cypriot pianist Rüya Taner and Turkish writer and musician Kürşat Başar held a concert in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The concert, which took place at the International Mugham Center and was organized by the Baku Yunus Emre Institute, was attended by TRNC Baku Representative Ufuk Turganer, Baku Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Selçuk Karakılıç, and many guests.

In his speech before the concert, TRNC Baku Representative Turganer emphasized the importance of bringing world-renowned artist Rüya Taner and well-known artist Kürşat Başar to Baku to meet art lovers. He also highlighted the historical significance of the event, referring to President Ersin Tatar’s visit to Baku on the 40th anniversary of the founding of the TRNC.

Karakılıç, the Baku Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator, stated that the concert aimed to strengthen the ties between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and TRNC on significant anniversaries for all three states. He emphasized the institute’s role in fostering genuine and authentic relations among the states and showcasing the cultural and scientific achievements of the Turkish family to the modern world.

During the hour-long concert, Rüya Taner and Kürşat Başar performed a range of Turkish and Western music, including pieces such as “There is a Village Far Away,” “Arap Ali’s Lament,” “Your Love Took Me From Me,” “Clair de Lune,” “Black Orpheus,” “Scherzo,” “My Brave Aslanim,” and “Oh, If Only I Were on That Ship.”

The event was a celebration of cultural exchange and collaboration between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and TRNC, and it showcased the talent and artistry of two distinguished artists to the delight of the audience in Baku.
