Mansur Yavaş Meets with İYİ Party Chairman Meral Akşener
In the recent local election, the İYİ Party and the CHP joined forces at the polls. However, this changed after the İYİ Party decided to nominate its own candidate in all metropolitan cities. This move raised questions about whether there would be any further cooperation after the leadership change in CHP, and if a path for collaboration was sought.
Surprisingly, a meeting took place in Ankara between Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and İYİ Party Chairman Meral Akşener. The meeting was initiated by Mansur Yavaş, who visited Akşener with the knowledge of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
The meeting lasted for more than half an hour and included the presence of İYİ Party Deputy Chairman for Local Governments Burak Akburak and Deputy Chairman Sedat Aksakallı, as well as Oktay Vural. After the meeting, Mansur Yavaş conveyed that he brought greetings from the chairman and that it was a courtesy visit.
When asked if he sought support from Akşener, Yavaş mentioned that he did not have the authority to make such a request and that he simply conveyed greetings.
The outcome of this meeting has raised anticipation about whether Meral Akşener and Özgür Özel will also have a meeting following this unexpected visit. All eyes are now on the potential developments in this political landscape.
