Allegations of North Korean Troops in Russia Supporting Ukraine War Confirmed by Satellite Images
Recent satellite photographs obtained by South Korean Intelligence (NIS) have confirmed allegations that North Korea has sent its troops to Russia to support Russia in the Ukraine war. Ukrainian intelligence also reports that North Korean soldiers are expected to be actively involved in the conflict as of November 1.
In response to these findings, South Korea has taken a diplomatic stance by publicly releasing images of North Korea’s secret military landing in Russia. The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian Ambassador to the country, Georgy Zinoviev, and officially protested the presence of North Korean troops in Russia. Deputy Minister Kim Hong-Un demanded the immediate withdrawal of these troops, emphasizing that their participation in the Ukraine war violates relevant United Nations agreements.
While the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for restraint from all parties involved, Russia has reassured that its cooperation with Pyongyang does not pose a threat to Seoul. The Russian Embassy stated that their partnership with North Korea is not against the interests of South Korea, and Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitri Peskov emphasized the strong relations between Russia and North Korea.
The US Department of Defense, on the other hand, has announced that it is reviewing claims of North Korean troops being sent to Ukraine to support Russia. Pentagon Spokesperson Brigadier General Ryder acknowledged the seriousness of the situation if these allegations prove to be true.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with concerns rising about the implications of North Korean involvement in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
