Abdirasulova Cleared to Return Home Without Danger

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Edil Baisalov, has spoken out about the situation involving human rights activist Aziza Abdirasulova, who was compelled to leave the country due to threats. In an interview with Azattyk, Baisalov addressed the issue and expressed regret over the treatment of Abdirasulova at the recent People’s Kurultai.

Baisalov voiced his disapproval of mentioning Abdirasulova as an example during the Kurultai, stating that it was inappropriate to single her out when there are many other wealthy individuals within NGOs who were not named. He acknowledged that the words spoken may have caused offense and immediately reached out to Abdirasulova to apologize on behalf of himself and the government.

He reassured Abdirasulova that there is no animosity towards her from President Sadyr Japarov and emphasized her contributions to the country as a person to be proud of. Baisalov highlighted her dedication to justice and truth, even in challenging times, and affirmed that she is not in any danger in the country.

Furthermore, Baisalov pledged that the government would work towards rebuilding trust and facilitating the return of Abdirasulova to Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized the importance of supporting individuals like Abdirasulova who have worked tirelessly for the betterment of society.

The incident in question occurred during the third People’s Kurultai on December 21, where President Japarov criticized certain media outlets and the human rights organization Kylym Shamy, which was founded by Aziza Abdirasulova. Despite the controversy, efforts are being made to resolve the situation and ensure that Abdirasulova can continue her work in Kyrgyzstan without fear or hindrance.
