At 45 years old, Zakirov received his religious education in Turkey and at the Islamic Institute in Bishkek, in addition to having a legal education. He is fluent in Arabic and Turkish. Prior to his appointment, he served as the chief imam of Bazar-Korgon district in the Jalal-Abad region.
