ACTIVIST Project Author Nosirov Released from Detention
Rumors of the death of Hojiakbar Nosirov, author of the ACTIVIST project, have been denied by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office. It was reported that Nosirov was released from prison on April 23 after serving a 15-day sentence. The lack of information about Nosirov’s whereabouts had previously raised concerns among activists and bloggers, but the PGO denied that any criminal case had been initiated against him. The ACTIVIST YouTube channel has not posted any new content since April 9, and its Telegram channel has been inactive since April 12. Nosirov was imprisoned for 15 days after distributing a video claiming that certain yogurts were haram due to the presence of carmine, which was supported by expert opinion and other evidence. Despite a complaint filed by his lawyer, the court refused to hear the appeal, prompting criticism from activists and lawyers who doubted the fairness of the decision.
