Activists Sketching Free Palestine in Support – Breaking News
Children across Turkey came together in solidarity with the children of Palestine through art. The Orphan Foundation organized the ‘Draw for Palestinian Children’ event in 81 provinces, with the main stop in Istanbul’s Sultanahmet Square.
With paints in hand, children of all ages expressed their support for Palestine by creating artworks that reflected the colors and symbols of freedom. Some drew the iconic Masjid al-Aqsa, while others portrayed Hanzala, a symbol of their solidarity with Palestine.
Murat Yılmaz, President of the Orphan Foundation, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the orphaned and unaccompanied children in Palestine. He stated, “Today, we wanted to make our voices heard as a protest against this disaster, these genocidal practices. Tourists passing through Sultanahmet Square have shown great enthusiasm for our cause. Those who fight for Palestine have written their thoughts on a scroll that stretches approximately 1 kilometer, while children have drawn expressive pictures.”
The event in Istanbul was just one part of a nationwide movement, where canvases were painted for Palestine in all 81 provinces of Turkey. From Bingöl to Amasya to Iğdır, children came together to show their support and express their anger towards the injustices faced by Palestinian children in Gaza.
Through art and activism, the children of Turkey have made their voices heard in solidarity with their peers in Palestine. The ‘Draw for Palestinian Children’ event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing up against oppression and advocating for the rights of all children, no matter where they may be.
