Ada News” News Portal Warned by Media Ethics Board

The Media Ethics Board has issued a warning to the news portal “Ada News” for violating journalistic principles. The Board emphasized the importance of respecting labor and intellectual property rights when using news content from other organizations.

In a statement released by the Media Ethics Board, it was revealed that a complaint made by Kıbrıs Postası Digital Publications Coordinator Canan Onurer regarding the front-page news article on “Ada News” was thoroughly examined. The article was based on statements made by the President of the Supreme Court, Bertan Özerdağ, without proper attribution to the original source.

The Board found that the news article in question violated Article 3 of the Internet Journalism Declaration, which requires proper sourcing and attribution when using content from other media organizations. Furthermore, the lack of transparency in not crediting Kıbrıs Postası TV for the interview with Özerdağ was deemed a violation of journalistic principles and intellectual property rights.

As a result, the Media Ethics Board unanimously decided to warn the news portal “Ada News” and urged all media outlets to clearly identify their news sources and follow ethical journalism practices. By respecting the labor and intellectual property rights of others, media organizations can maintain the integrity and credibility of the industry.
