Adana Water Pipe Burst Leads to Bus Accident

Bus Falls Into Hole After Road Collapses in Adana

A private public bus in Adana, Turkey, found itself in a precarious situation when the road it was traveling on suddenly collapsed and caused its rear wheel to fall into a one-meter hole. The incident occurred on Fazlı Meto Boulevard in the Çukurova district, where the road was covered with water.

Upon receiving news of the accident, Adana Water and Sewerage Administration teams quickly responded by cutting off the water in the line, taking necessary precautions, and closing off the road to traffic.

The bus driver, Veli Bala, recounted the terrifying moment when the ground below them gave way. “We were driving the bus when suddenly the rear wheel hit loose ground and we heard a loud sound. It felt as though the road split open and the bus entered inside,” he explained.

One of the passengers on the bus, Akın Yaman, shared his experience of the incident. “There was water on the road and no visible potholes, but as we passed through, a hole formed beneath us, and we were submerged in water,” he described.

The unexpected collapse of the road left the bus stuck in a ditch, highlighting the importance of road maintenance and infrastructure safety. Thanks to the swift response of the authorities, no injuries were reported, and measures were taken to secure the area.

As the investigation into the cause of the road collapse continues, residents and commuters are reminded to stay vigilant and report any potential hazards on roads to prevent similar incidents in the future.
