Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made important statements to journalists after a meeting in the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s security council.
During the meeting, Lavrov mentioned that Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov provided information regarding the agreement to halt attacks on Russia and Ukraine’s energy infrastructure facilities. He emphasized that the Russian army is strictly following the order not to attack Ukraine’s energy facilities.
Lavrov also reported that they have informed the US about Ukraine’s violations. Moreover, he highlighted the importance of concrete steps regarding the Black Sea initiative, which focuses on navigation security and preventing commercial ships from being used for military purposes.
Referring to the recent meeting between Russian and American experts in Riyadh, Lavrov stated that progress is being made in discussions about access to ports, freight wages, and insurance in the Black Sea region. He mentioned that American colleagues are considering their offers and promised to respond soon.
Furthermore, Lavrov discussed the preparations for a new meeting with the US to normalize bilateral relations. He mentioned that contacts through telephone and video conferences are ongoing, and both parties are working towards removing obstacles that hinder diplomatic operations between the two countries. The efforts of the American partners to enhance cooperation were acknowledged by Lavrov.
