Aftermath of Malatya Earthquakes: Aftershocks of February 6

Remarkable post after the earthquakes in Malatya: These earthquakes are aftershocks of February 6
After a 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit Malatya and a 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck Adıyaman, geology expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür took to social media to share his insights. According to the information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the epicenter of the 5.2 magnitude earthquake recorded at 17:46 was in Malatya’s Battalgazi district.
In his statement, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür pointed out that the close proximity and short time interval between the two earthquakes suggest that one is a follow-up to the other. He also expressed doubts about the accuracy of the locations given by AFAD, stating that he believes the earthquakes are essentially in the same place. Görür concluded by saying, “We can consider these earthquakes as aftershocks of the February 6 earthquakes.”
The series of earthquakes in Malatya and Adıyaman has raised concerns among residents, prompting experts and authorities to closely monitor the situation. As seismic activity continues in the region, it is crucial for residents to stay informed and prepared for any potential aftershocks.
