Agency for Strategic Reforms Plans $1 Billion Industrial Technopark in Almalyk
Almalyk to Host New Industrial Technopark and Logistics Center
The city of Almalyk is set to experience a significant economic boost with the establishment of a new industrial technopark and logistics center, as proposed by the Agency for Strategic Reforms. The complex, to be located in the “Hilol” neighborhood, will cover 227.4 hectares of vacant land and will host 35 facilities for the production of building materials, household appliances, and other goods.
The agency estimates that the project will attract over $1 billion in investments and create 8,000 new jobs in the city. The enterprises within the technopark are expected to generate about $350 million in industrial product exports annually and contribute up to 60 billion UZS to the local budget.
In addition to the technopark, the agency has suggested the creation of an international logistics center in the same neighborhood. This center will streamline the supply of local products to both domestic and foreign markets, creating up to 200 jobs and bringing in 15 billion UZS in revenue for the city.
Furthermore, plans are in place to establish a small industrial zone in the “Buston” neighborhood on 33.8 hectares of available land. With potential investments of around $250 million, this facility is expected to provide employment for 1,800 individuals and contribute another 15 billion UZS to the local budget.
The Agency for Strategic Reforms has also proposed the construction of new kindergartens in the “Dustlik” and “Oltin” neighborhoods. These new facilities, with 180 and 200 places respectively, will replace existing institutions with smaller capacities and increase preschool education coverage to 80% in the city.
