Agriculture Ministry Implements New Fine for Violating Forest Laws

Bishkek – The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan is cracking down on violations of forest legislation by introducing a new fine. The Parliament has approved a draft law in the first reading, which will enforce penalties for illegal cutting or damaging of trees and shrubs in forests, grazing livestock without permission, damaging land causing minor damage, and unauthorized construction.

Individuals who violate these regulations will face a fine of 5,500 soms, while legal entities will be fined 17,000 soms. The government defines minor damage as material or property damage ranging from 10 to 100 calculated rates established by law at the time of the offense.
