Turkish Jets Carry Out Operation in Northern Iraq, Destroying 21 Targets
Turkish jets have conducted a successful air operation in northern Iraq, targeting key areas such as Metina, Gara, Hakurk, and Qandil. According to reports, a total of 21 targets, including caves and shelters used by PKK terrorists, were destroyed in the operation.
The Ministry of National Defense released a statement confirming the air operation, which was aimed at thwarting terrorist attacks against security forces and fortifying border security. A significant number of terrorists were neutralized in the process, ensuring the safety of the region.
The operation utilized a high amount of domestically-produced ammunition, emphasizing Turkey’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. The statement reiterated the Turkish Armed Forces’ unwavering resolve in the fight against terrorism until the last terrorist is neutralized. Measures were also taken to minimize collateral damage to innocent civilians and historical sites.
In a previous air operation on September 5, 5 terrorists were neutralized in the Gara and Hakurk regions of northern Iraq. However, the news of Infantry First Lieutenant Ömer Fatih Ayar’s martyrdom in a recent clash with PKK terrorists brings a somber tone to the ongoing operations.
