Kyrgyzstan and Airbus Discuss Potential Partnership for Aircraft Purchase
Bishkek – In a recent meeting, Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to France, met with Jacques Garrigue, the Airbus Vice President for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss potential cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Airbus in the aviation industry.
During the meeting, Sher-Niyaz highlighted the growing collaboration between Kyrgyzstan and Airbus and expressed satisfaction with the use of previously acquired helicopters. He proposed the idea of purchasing middle class aircraft to be used for flights over the mountainous terrain in Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, he suggested utilizing the capabilities of Airbus satellite technology for monitoring border areas, tracking changes in mountain river beds, and promoting the efficient use of farmlands in the country.
In response, Garrigue informed Sher-Niyaz about the successful utilization of A220 class aircraft by Manas Airlines, further showcasing the potential benefits of Airbus aircraft for Kyrgyzstan. Garrigue expressed openness towards considering Sher-Niyaz’s proposal to provide ATR-72 class aircraft, which can accommodate up to 90 people and are equipped with turbopropellers, for short-distance flights within the country. The meeting also involved deliberations on the mechanisms and financing options for implementing the proposed satellite use.
This meeting marks an important step towards a potential partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Airbus in the aviation sector. The acquisition of new aircraft would not only enhance the country’s air transportation capabilities but also contribute to the development and prosperity of Kyrgyzstan’s economy. With its challenging terrain, Kyrgyzstan can greatly benefit from aircraft specifically designed for mountainous environments.
The negotiations between Sher-Niyaz and Garrigue reflect the commitment of both parties to explore opportunities that align with Kyrgyzstan’s needs and Airbus’s expertise. The potential cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Airbus holds promise for transforming the country’s aviation industry and strengthening its connectivity with the rest of the world.
