AK Party and MHP’s Joint Plan for 51 Cities Ready

The AK Party and MHP are getting ready for the upcoming local elections in 2024. The two parties have finalized their cooperation plan in 51 provinces that do not have metropolitan status. President Erdoğan will lead the efforts to determine candidate names as the A Team convenes on Monday.

The two parties have agreed to enter the elections with a common candidate in 30 metropolitan cities and to cooperate in 29 of the remaining 51 cities. They will each nominate separate candidates in 22 cities. The consultation meeting held under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan clarified the cities in which the AK Party will nominate a candidate and the MHP will support that candidate.

In addition, there are 22 provinces where AK Party and MHP will each nominate separate candidates. In five cities, AK Party will support MHP’s candidates, and in two cities, MHP will nominate candidates without AK Party’s nomination.

Furthermore, President Erdoğan will convene the candidate selection commission on Monday to begin working on determining the mayoral candidates of the provinces and districts. It is expected that the majority of candidates will be determined within a week.

The election cooperation plan of the AK Party and MHP has been made clear for the 2024 local elections. However, fine work on the districts continues, and some collaborations may be implemented on a district basis until the elections. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming local elections.
