AK Party Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım’s Exclusive NTV Interview – Latest Turkey News Update

With only 5 days left until Turkey’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections on May 14th, AK Party Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım has answered questions from NTV. One of the most important topics covered was the issue of alliance voting. The system was introduced with the Presidential system, and it is designed to eliminate the problem of the threshold as well as creating an opportunity for representation in the Parliament. Binali Yıldırım stated that almost 80-90% of the votes will find their place in this system.
Another topic that was discussed is the importance of these elections. Binali Yıldırım stated that these elections are more important than other nations’ elections. The issue of alliances created tension in the country, which drew the attention of other countries and terrorist groups. There are claims made in every election that the ruling party uses more opportunities than others, but Turkey’s elections have been appreciated by the whole world.
Regarding the recent incidents of violence that took place in Erzurum where a stone was thrown at Imamoglu’s rally, Binali Yıldırım urged politicians to follow the rules and avoid causing further tension. He explained that responsible politicians need to go wherever they are called and not use their privilege to create disorder.
Furthermore, Binali Yıldırım said that the most important issue for the winner of the elections will be inflation. Inflation has already fallen, and the goal is to reduce it even further to single digits in the near future.
Finally, Binali Yıldırım discussed the AK Party’s strategy for reaching out to young people. He believes that young people are not cold towards the AK Party but may not like the politics of older people. The party has created an ERASMUS-like program that enables young people to meet the Turkish world, therefore avoiding missing out on the digital era.
With the election drawing close, it is important for all sides to remain calm and avoid inciting violence, and for politicians to work towards a peaceful and fair election.
