AK Party member dismisses concerns over Turkish citizenship definition amidst Babacan’s statement
AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Özlem Zengin spoke to CNN Türk about several important topics, including the recent alliance between the HDP and the CHP. According to Zengin, the HDP-CHP alliance was established before the Nation Alliance, and the CHP’s recent support of the HDP is not surprising considering their past agreements. Regarding DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan’s statement about changing the definition of Turkishness, Zengin expressed her disagreement and called it a disturbing discourse. She asserted that these kinds of statements should not be made for vote-gathering purposes and could lead to discrimination.
Zengin also expressed confidence that the AK Party would win the upcoming elections, and their President would be elected in the first round. She dismissed concerns about the current economic situation affecting voter decisions and noted that the AK Party has a track record of solving problems.
Finally, Zengin addressed the issue of violence against women, arguing that women should not be solely responsible for family-related issues, and men should also be appointed as family ministers. She emphasized the AK Party’s commitment to women’s issues and the family as a whole.
