AK Party member Özlem Zengin speaks on CNN TÜRK

Özlem Zengin, a member of the AK Party, spoke about the alliance between the HDP and CHP in a recent speech. She stated that this alliance predates the Nation Alliance and that they have worked together in the Parliament before. She also mentioned that the CHP’s recent support for their Syria bill was not due to obligation, but rather an attempt to break the public perception. This was said because the PKK’s support for the Nation Alliance has become a concern for citizens, especially those of the IYI Party.
Zengin also commented on recent events involving Fatma Kurtulan’s dismissal from his position as group chairman. Kurtulan had turned to the IYI Party and stated that they owe their existence to the HDP-CHP alliance. Zengin believes that the upcoming election is between Kılıçdaroğlu and Erdoğan, and that this was not the primary target of Kurtulan’s speech.
Furthermore, Zengin expressed her concern over Babacan’s statement about the Turkish definition of citizenship changing. She stated that this discourse aims to get votes, especially from the East and Southeast regions of Turkey, and that it may lead to discrimination against particular groups. Zengin believes that such concepts should not be used as words to gain votes, but rather be taken seriously, considering the impact it may have on various communities.
Overall, Zengin’s speech sheds light on the political situation in Turkey, and the alliances and discourse surrounding it.
