AK Party Şişli Mayor Candidate Gökhan Yüksel Unveils Ambitious Projects for District
Gökhan Yüksel, the mayoral candidate for AK Party in Şişli, recently hosted a press conference at a private hotel in the district to announce his proposed projects. One of the key issues he addressed was the district’s parking problem, which he plans to tackle through the construction of underground parking facilities once in office. Yüksel also highlighted the need for more sports fields in Şişli and pledged to enhance sports activities through the development of sports complexes and stadiums. Additionally, he outlined plans to create music and art workshops for young people to increase social engagement in the district. Yüksel also introduced a cute friends hotel project for pets, ensuring that animal care will be a priority for the municipality.
Underground parking spaces will be a major focus of Yüksel’s administration, with a goal to make Şişli the district with the highest number of underground parking lots in Istanbul within five years. He emphasized the importance of proper urban planning to address issues such as urban transformation and title deed problems. Yüksel’s vision includes transforming Teşvikiye into a thematic national garden with a view of the Bosphorus, in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University and the Ministry of National Education.
Yüksel also unveiled plans to revitalize Kurtuluş Street, aiming to make it a hub for tourists and shoppers alike. By creating a high-capacity car park and implementing traffic restrictions, he envisions Kurtuluş Street as the go-to destination in Şişli. Additionally, Yüksel pledged to enhance social facilities in the district, including renovations to Maçka Democracy Park and the Maçka Marriage Office.
In addition to these key projects, Yüksel outlined a range of initiatives to benefit the district, such as sports complexes, facade rehabilitation projects, and the establishment of nurseries in every neighborhood. The Historical Cisterns and Art Center project aims to repurpose cisterns in Şişli into cultural hubs, while play streets will be developed for children’s recreational activities. Yüksel also proposed the construction of slim parking lots, dowry support for newly married couples, and the establishment of uniform taxi stands in the district.
With a comprehensive plan for urban development and social enhancement, Gökhan Yüksel aims to transform Şişli into a vibrant and sustainable district for its residents.
