
Akhangaran Mayor Released from Duty

The Governor of the Tashkent Region, Zoyir Mirzayev, has approved the resignation of Akrom Eshonkulov from his position as the mayor of the city of Akhangaran. Eshonkulov’s departure was based on his own request to step down from his role.
In a farewell message released by the city administration, Eshonkulov expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to have served as the mayor, emphasizing that every moment in his position has been impactful and meaningful to him. He also conveyed his appreciation towards the president and expressed his deep affection for Akhangaran, stating that the city had become as dear to him as his hometown. Eshonkulov acknowledged the collective effort in any successes achieved for the city’s prosperity and sincerely apologized if he had unintentionally offended anyone during his time as mayor.
“Dear city of Akhangaran, I am sorry for any upset I may have caused. Goodbye, my beloved city,” Eshonkulov concluded in his farewell message.
The specific reasons for his resignation have not been disclosed.
Born in 1976 in the Lower Chirchik district of Tashkent region, Akrom Eshonkulov is an economist by profession, having graduated from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and Tashkent State University of Economics with a master’s degree.
Prior to serving as the mayor of Akhangaran, he held various positions including acting chief specialist at the Cabinet of Ministers’ office responsible for the social and economic development of the city of Almalyk in Tashkent region, head of the information-analytical group of the Tashkent regional administration, first deputy mayor of the city of Akhangaran, and acting mayor.
Eshonkulov was appointed as the mayor of Akhangaran on June 4, 2020, succeeding Odiljon Jurayev. His departure from the position has been sanctioned by the Governor of the Tashkent Region.
