Anadolu Isuzu Seeks 75% Stake in SamAuto to Gain Control

Anadolu Isuzu to Acquire Majority Stake in Samarkand Automobile Plant

Türkiye’s Anadolu Isuzu Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., a prominent commercial vehicle manufacturer, has made an official offer to acquire a 75.2% controlling stake in Samarkand Automobile Plant (SamAuto), as revealed in a statement on Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

Currently, the controlling interest in SamAuto is held by the state, with the remaining shares owned by two Japanese companies — Itochu Corporation and Isuzu Motors, each holding 12.4%.

SamAuto is known for manufacturing trucks, buses, and ISUZU D-Max pickups under license from Japan’s Isuzu Motors.

This proposal from Anadolu Isuzu comes after a memorandum of understanding was signed in June 2024, outlining the terms for evaluating the feasibility of the acquisition and conducting necessary due diligence procedures.

In a meeting on October 7, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov met with Bora Koçak, President of Anadolu Isuzu, to discuss the company’s involvement in Uzbekistan’s state privatization program and potential collaboration on automotive projects.

Anadolu Isuzu has begun financial, legal, and tax audits in November as part of the preparations for a mandatory offer, with a commitment to keeping the public informed throughout the process.

Established in 1984, Anadolu Isuzu is a subsidiary of Türkiye’s Anadolu Group and is one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in the country. In Uzbekistan, Anadolu Group already operates Coca-Cola factories in Tashkent and owns a digital histology laboratory.
