Anamur Pier Inaugurated with Minister Ataoğlu, Arıklı, and Oğuz in Attendance
The Anamur Ferry and Seaplane Pier in Mersin was officially opened today with a grand ceremony attended by various government officials and dignitaries. The pier, which had been idle for 6 years, was put into operation by ANTSO Denizcilik A.Ş. in 2024, providing sea transportation between Anamur and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the shortest time.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, Minister of the Interior Dursun Oğuz, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, and other government officials. The event began with a moment of silence and the national anthem, followed by speeches from various speakers expressing their gratitude for the completion of the project.
Yücelen Foundation President Ali Yücelen, Anamur Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mehmet Tuna, and President of the World Chambers Federation M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, among others, highlighted the significance of the pier in improving transportation and tourism in the region. Former Minister of Treasury and Finance Lütfi Elvan also commended the efforts of those involved in making the project a reality.
Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu emphasized the importance of the Anamur Ferry and Seaplane Pier in facilitating travel between Anamur and Girne and boosting the economy and tourism in the area. Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu reiterated Turkey’s commitment to supporting the TRNC and promoting tourism between the two regions.
