Fake drinks lead to an increase in deaths in Ankara, with the number of fatalities rising to 59, according to recent reports. In addition, 35 individuals have been intubated, highlighting the severity of the situation.
In response to these tragic events, 28 suspects have been arrested in connection to the production and distribution of fake drinks. Investigations by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Ankara are ongoing, with 25 individuals being released under judicial control.
The suspects arrested in Ankara have testified that they obtained the alcohol used in the fake drinks through online orders or social media platforms. Due to restrictions on shipping liquids, the suspects resorted to delivering the drinks by hand. Shockingly, some suspects were found to be selling 5 liters of ethyl alcohol for 1000 pounds.
Furthermore, it has come to light that fake drinks were being sold in a shop, rather than in obscure locations such as under stairs or in derelict buildings. This revelation raises concerns about the prevalence of fake drinks in the market.
