Ankaragücü Files Objection to Faruk Koca with Arbitration Board – Latest Sports Update

Faruk Koca, who was involved in an altercation with the referee after the match between MKE Ankaragücü and Çaykur Rizespor in the 15th week of the Super League, has been sentenced to 5 years of deprivation of rights by the Professional Football Discipline Committee (PFDK).

The decision was made in accordance with Article 52/2 of the Football Disciplinary Instruction, which states that the penalty for such actions should exceed 3 years.

In response to the severity of the punishment, MKE Ankaragücü Club has applied to the Arbitration Board in an effort to reduce Faruk Koca’s sentence. The club cited a past incident involving a player from Amed Sportif F. in 2019 as a precedent for reducing the penalty.

The club expressed their belief that the punishment was too harsh and highlighted the case of the Amed Sportif F. player, who was initially given a permanent deprivation of rights for injuring four opposing team players with a razor. However, the decision was later amended by the Arbitration Board, reducing the penalty to a ban from 20 official matches and a fine of 25,000.00 TL.

MKE Ankaragücü Club argued that given the precedent set by the Amed Sportif F. case, Faruk Koca’s punishment should also be reduced. They pointed out that TFF had previously banned Faruk Koca from 20 matches, even in a situation much more severe than his own actions.

In a show of support, a video surfaced showing Emre Belözoğlu expressing support for Faruk Koca in light of the recent events.

As the case unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the Arbitration Board will amend Faruk Koca’s punishment, taking into account the club’s appeal and the precedent set by past incidents.
