Ankaragücü President Mert Fırat Issues Statement on Eryaman Stadium – Latest Sports Update
Galatasaray Apply to TFF for Change of Stadium for Ankaragücü Match
Galatasaray has made a formal request to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to change the location of their upcoming match against Ankaragücü. The reason for this request is that the ground of Eryaman Stadium, where the match is originally scheduled to take place, is deemed unsuitable for football.
MKE Ankaragücü Club President İsmail Mert Fırat, however, has stated that necessary work has been carried out on the field ground at Eryaman Stadium to ensure that it is in better condition. In a written statement, Fırat emphasized that maintenance work on the stadium’s ground began promptly after the Gençlerbirliği-Trabzonspor match played in the Ziraat Turkish Cup on February 8.
Addressing the criticism surrounding the ground conditions at Eryaman Stadium, Fırat stressed that the field has undergone extensive maintenance using the latest technological advancements. He also pointed out that the current climate conditions in Ankara are below the seasonal norms, which has impacted the state of the field.
Fırat commented, “Player health is, of course, the priority for all our clubs. The decision made by TFF will give us the answer to whether the health of the players who played in 4 matches in 6 days is better than the health of the players who will play on Sunday.”
Furthermore, in light of their recent defeat in the Konyaspor match, President Fırat emphasized the increased importance of their upcoming match against Galatasaray. He also mentioned that the club has requested the VAR records regarding a controversial decision in their previous match and is awaiting a response from the TFF.
The president concluded by expressing the hope for fair and impartial decision-making by the TFF, without compromising the trust of the sports public in football institutions. He underlined that a Super League where rules are applied equally to all clubs is the aspiration of every team, and emphasized the importance of maintaining trust in the sport.
The decision regarding the change of venue for the match between Galatasaray and Ankaragücü will ultimately lie with the TFF, and all parties involved are eagerly awaiting the outcome.
