Turgut Altınok Criticizes Ankara Metropolitan Mayor for Lack of Governance
After the Friday prayer at Hacı Bayram-ı Veli Mosque, Turgut Altınok made a statement regarding the state of governance in Ankara. Altınok expressed his concerns by stating that Ankara has not been properly governed for the past 5 years.
“The Metropolitan Mayor has shown no intention of effectively governing Ankara. Sadly, the city has regressed into a mere big town, losing its metropolitan spirit and resembling a large village. As a result, businesses are facing bankruptcy due to lack of proper management and transparency,” Altınok expressed.
He further added, “It is unclear what actions have been taken or purchases made within these companies, and accountability must be established. If the companies are truly transparent, why not open them up for public scrutiny?”
Altınok challenged the Metropolitan Mayor to provide transparency by answering questions such as the number of employees in each company, their financial status before and after taking office, and details on tenders awarded by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
Highlighting specific examples of negligence, Altınok mentioned the unfinished work in Hıdırlıktepe Recreation Area, which has been left as a garbage dump for the past 5 years. He also raised concerns about the delay in the History Road project, emphasizing its importance in preserving culture and heritage.
In conclusion, Altınok urged for better governance in Ankara, criticizing the current administration for their inaction and failure to prioritize the city’s development. He called for immediate measures to address these issues and ensure the city receives the governance it deserves.
