Announced Support for Small-Scale Fishermen
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has officially announced the implementation of the Communiqué on Supporting Small-Scale Fishing, which aims to improve the fishing industry and promote sustainable management practices.
The new regulations outline the procedures and principles for supporting fishing vessel owners in the upcoming years, with a focus on collecting data and promoting socio-economic development in the small-scale fishing sector. One key aspect of the Communiqué is the increased financial support for fishing boat owners. Unit support amounts have been raised by 43 to 100 percent compared to previous years, with the lowest amount set at 5,000 lira and the highest at 12,000 lira for the next year. Additionally, female fishermen will receive 35 percent more support, with a minimum of 6,700 lira and a maximum of 16,200 lira.
