Anthony Hopkins to Portray Composer Handel in Upcoming Film
Andrew Levitas has been announced as the director for the upcoming movie “The King of Covent Garden”. The film will feature legendary actor Anthony Hopkins in the role of German-British baroque composer George Frideric Handel.
Handel, known for his iconic choral masterpiece “Messiah”, will be portrayed by Hopkins in what promises to be a powerful and majestic celebration of the composer’s genius. The screenplay for the movie was written by Tim Slover, with the film aiming to inspire audiences around the world.
Andrew Levitas, who previously worked on the movie “Minamata”, will be sitting in the director’s chair for “The King of Covent Garden”. The producers for the film are Dan Lupovitz and Kevan Van Thompson, with global operatic mezzo-soprano star Katherine Jenkins serving as an executive producer.
Embankment Films has already started pre-sales for the project, which is expected to be released in late fall 2025. This collaboration marks a reunion between Hopkins and Embankment Films after the success of “The Father”, which earned Hopkins his second Oscar.
