Anti-Corruption Agency Thwarts 3.1 Billion UZS in Unlawful State Tenders

The Anti-Corruption Agency Takes Action to Prevent Illegal Government Procurements

The Anti-Corruption Agency in Uzbekistan has reported that procurement commission protocols determining the winners of public tenders were recently annulled based on its recommendations. This move effectively prevented illegal government procurements from taking place.

According to the agency’s findings, violations of procurement laws were identified in August and September in relation to 11 public procurements totaling 3.1 billion UZS. Conflicts of interest were found in several public procurements carried out by different state entities, including the Narpay District Medical Association, the Road Maintenance Department of Shumanay District, the Department of Preschool and School Education of Kattakurgan District, the Administration of Altynsay District, Vocational School No. 2 of Kumkurgan District, and the Academic Lyceum under Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute.

Furthermore, it was discovered that individuals affiliated with each other were allowed to participate in a procurement worth 1.5 billion UZS, organized by the Specialized Road Enterprise “Kamchikavtoyul.”

In response to these findings, the procurement commission protocols were annulled, effectively preventing the unlawful organization of these public procurements. The documents gathered during the investigation have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for further legal assessment.

The Anti-Corruption Agency continues to work diligently to ensure transparency and integrity in government procurement processes, safeguarding public funds from corruption and misuse.
