**Turkish Programs to be Taught in Baku**
Turkey-Azerbaijan University is set to welcome students starting in the academic year 2024-2025, marking the implementation of a new university model worldwide.
YÖK President Erol Özvar announced that this university will offer programs from Turkey’s top universities under one umbrella institution. “The programs of Middle East Technical University (METU), Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and Hacettepe University will be available at this university, with students being accepted in Baku,” he stated.
The newly established Türkiye-Azerbaijan University in Baku will allow the programs of the three major Turkish universities to grant diplomas under the Baku campus name.
“Students who successfully complete these programs at Turkey-Azerbaijan University will receive diplomas from the respective Turkish universities,” Özvar added.
Regarding student recruitment, Özvar explained that a student who studies computer engineering at Istanbul Technical University will be admitted based on the Baku ranking. However, the admission process will follow the rules of Istanbul Technical University, and the student will attend classes at the Baku campus.
The initial programs to be offered include computer engineering, industrial engineering, and food engineering, representing the strengths of the three Turkish universities involved.
President of the Council of Higher Education Erol Özvar also mentioned that this initiative will not be limited to Azerbaijan, as similar partnerships with other countries are being explored.
“We plan to extend this model to other countries where agreements have been made,” Özvar stated confidently.
