Applying for Earthquake Rental Assistance: Eligibility and e-Government Support

Shelter and Relocation Support for Disaster Victims is a major concern for earthquake victims and their families following two devastating earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change will provide Shelter Assistance for Disaster Victims to homeowners or tenants whose homes have been found to be damaged in the earthquake zone. After the provincial governorships conduct examinations in the residents’ addresses, moving and rental assistance will be provided accordingly.

Those who will benefit from earthquake rent aid are the families of disaster victims whose residences have been determined as destroyed, urgently needing demolition, heavily damaged, or moderately damaged. The families will receive rental assistance of 3,000 TL for tenants and 5,000 TL for landlords for a duration of 12 months.

To apply for earthquake rental aid, landlords or tenants whose houses have been determined as damaged in the earthquake zone by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change can do so through AFAD’s “Shelter Support for Disaster Victims” via e-Government.

The payment dates for rental aid have not been announced by the Ministry yet.

In addition to rental aid, President Erdogan announced that households whose homes are deemed uninhabitable will receive 15,000 TL, while those in need of relocation assistance will receive between 2,000 and 5,000 TL. Furthermore, 10,000 TL in cash support will be provided to the relatives of those who lost their lives in the earthquake for their urgent needs. However, no information has been given regarding the payment dates for this assistance.

For further assistance, individuals can access e-Government to apply for the relocation assistance of 15,000 TL or complete the AFAD e-Government Entitlement Questionnaire for Disaster Victims.
