Ardahan Chilled: Temperature Plummets to Minus 27 Degrees
Freezing Temperatures Grip Ağrı and Ardahan, Rivers and Roads Freeze
Ağrı and Ardahan, two cities in eastern Turkey, continue to grapple with freezing temperatures that are causing rivers and roads to freeze over. In Ağrı, temperatures plummeted to minus 20 degrees Celsius at night, leading to the freezing of the Murat River and nearby streams. Citizens in the region were seen covering their vehicles with carpets and tarpaulins in an effort to protect them from the bitter cold.
Additionally, visibility in certain parts of Ağrı has been affected by fog, making travel and navigation more challenging for residents. In Ardahan, the situation is no better, with temperatures dropping to as low as minus 23 degrees Celsius. The icy conditions have led to the formation of ice on roads and pavements, as well as the freezing of streams and ponds in the area.
In the district of Göle in Ardahan, the mercury dipped to a bone-chilling 27 degrees below zero at night, making it one of the coldest spots in the region. As winter tightens its grip on these cities, residents are urged to take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe during this period of extreme cold.
