Astrakhan Region Explores Opportunities for Cooperation with Turkmenistan
Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan region, Denis Afanasyev, has revealed plans for potential mutual internships and additional professional programs between the cities of Arkadag and Astrakhan. He further highlighted that Astrakhan’s higher educational institutions possess the necessary expertise in training professionals capable of working with Arkadag’s complex “smart” city infrastructure and maintaining it.
A significant project currently underway is the establishment of a logistics center for Turkmenistan in the port area of Astrakhan. This initiative aims to facilitate a shipping line between the Turkmenbashi seaport and ports in the Astrakhan region. The development of strong transportation links will create new opportunities for trade and economic cooperation between the two regions.
In the field of shipbuilding, Afanasyev emphasized the readiness of Astrakhan’s shipbuilders to collaborate with their counterparts in Turkmenistan. By sharing expertise and resources, both sides can contribute to the growth of the shipbuilding industry.
Moreover, there is mutual interest in tourism-related projects. Astrakhan and Turkmenistan are exploring possibilities for joint ventures in the tourism industry, aiming to attract visitors and foster cultural exchange.
Cooperation between Astrakhan and Turkmenistan extends beyond economic sectors. The two regions are actively engaged in humanitarian activities, collaborating on various initiatives and programs.
The proposed initiatives reflect the growing ties and potential for further collaboration between Astrakhan and Turkmenistan. These efforts are expected to strengthen bilateral relations, promote knowledge sharing, and propel economic growth for both regions.
