Armenia Eyes Kyrgyzstan’s Booming Economy

Armenia Looks to Learn from Kyrgyzstan’s Economic Success

Armenia is eager to study the economic growth experienced by the Kyrgyz Republic in the past year, as stated by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint briefing with Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubaev.

Mirzoyan acknowledged that there is untapped potential in the trade and economic relations between Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, and emphasized the need for further development in this area.

He highlighted the importance of economic ties and trade turnover in bilateral relations, expressing Armenia’s readiness to increase trade volumes, deepen economic cooperation, and learn from each other’s successes. Mirzoyan also mentioned Armenia’s willingness to share its capabilities in innovative technologies and the digital agenda.

The Foreign Minister emphasized the potential for new logistics projects to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries, citing the government project “Crossroads of the World” as a significant initiative that can contribute to this goal.

Trade turnover between Armenia and the Kyrgyz Republic has seen a substantial increase in recent years, rising from less than $1 million a few years ago to about $27.4 million in January-November 2023 and $13.7 million in 2024 (final figures for the year are pending). The traded goods mainly consist of jewelry, pharmaceuticals, and brandy.

Overall, Armenia is keen on leveraging Kyrgyzstan’s economic success to strengthen economic ties and enhance collaboration between the two nations.
