Asaka Motors to Begin Production of Hyundai Vehicles in Uzbekistan
Asaka Motors, a prominent automotive company in Uzbekistan, is gearing up to start production of Hyundai vehicles at its plant in the Syrdarya region. This exciting development comes following an agreement signed with the South Korean automotive giant to manufacture vehicles under its renowned brand within the country.
To ensure the success of this new venture, the production process will be conducted in two phases. The initial phase will focus on the assembly of popular models such as the Elantra and Sonata sedans, Palisade, Santa Fe, and Tucson crossovers, as well as the Staria minivan. This phase is scheduled to commence in May of this year.
By the end of 2022, Asaka Motors aims to finalize the processes for welding, painting, and advanced assembly, with a particular focus on localizing the production of components for Hyundai vehicles. The company plans to establish a special cluster near the plant to manage the production of parts, thereby reducing delivery times and related costs.
This initiative follows President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s launch of three projects for vehicle production in collaboration with China in May 2023. Asaka Motors was involved in one of these projects, specifically the assembly workshop for the brand Exeed.
