ASELSAN exports ERALP radar with extended range

ASELSAN, a leading defense industry company in Turkey, has recently signed export contracts for the ERALP Early Warning Radar System. This radar system has seen a significant increase in its localization rate, prompting new investments for its production.

During the DIMDEX International Maritime Defense Fair in Doha, Qatar, ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol provided insights into the ERALP Early Warning Radar System. Known for its long range capabilities, the radar system is a crucial component of the SİPER Long Range Air Defense System.

Akyol emphasized the importance of early warning radars in controlling Turkish airspace. These radars play a key role in early detection, diagnosis, and control of airborne elements such as aircraft, UAVs, helicopters, and cruise missiles at long range. The ERALP radar, developed under the EIRS Project, has been made available to the Turkish Armed Forces.

In addition to its high detection range, the ERALP radar system boasts end-to-end localization. With approximately 10 thousand transistors inside, the radar system represents a significant achievement in terms of national production. ASELSAN has localized gallium nitrate (GaN) transistors used in the radar and established local production in collaboration with Bilkent University.

The ERALP radar system, including chip designs, chip production, transistor production, transmit-receive modules, antennas, and software, is entirely designed and produced in Turkey. The radar family is now in the mass production phase, with contracts signed for export to friendly and allied countries.

To meet the increasing demand, ASELSAN is constructing a radar production facility worth several hundred million dollars in Ankara. This facility will enhance radar production capacity and further diversify activities within the defense industry.

Moreover, ASELSAN has developed command and control software to integrate multiple radars and efficiently manage airspace. This national software enables seamless coordination among radars and enhances overall airspace management capabilities.

In conclusion, ASELSAN’s achievements in the development and production of the ERALP Early Warning Radar System highlight Turkey’s growing capabilities in the defense industry. With increased localization and production capacity, ASELSAN is poised to play a significant role in the global defense market.
