ASELSAN General Manager Akyol Makes Announcement on ASELFLIR-500

ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol has made critical statements about ASELSAN’s electro-optical system solutions, specifically mentioning the ASELFLIR-500. In a statement, Akyol emphasized the company’s commitment to nationalization and localization, highlighting their efforts to overcome unfair embargoes imposed on Turkey. He stated that ASELSAN’s primary goal is to achieve localization and nationalization, to excel in their chosen fields, and to break new ground.
Akyol proudly announced that ASELSAN successfully developed a product that could not be produced locally, with 158 units produced to date and exported to 12 countries. The product has also been widely used by Turkish security forces. Akyol cited this as an example of doing what cannot be done and achieving national goals.
The second part of Akyol’s statement focused on the ASELFLIR-500, which he described as the best camera in its field worldwide. He mentioned that it will soon enter the inventory and will be used by security forces next year. The ASELFLIR-500 is capable of detecting people over 20 kilometers and tanks over 80 kilometers, with day and night functionality. It also features high imaging capability in low light environments and introduces the HD SWIR camera feature for the first time in its class. The camera has a high marking accuracy of over 95 percent and performs well in foggy and marine conditions.
Akyol emphasized that ASELSAN follows a philosophy of producing products that surpass their international counterparts, aiming to be the best or at least one of the best in their respective fields. He stated that this approach is not limited to cameras, but applies to all ASELSAN products, as the company aims to support export-oriented growth.
Akyol highlighted ASELSAN’s commitment to an export-oriented vision, pushing the boundaries of what can be done, focusing on high technology, and strengthening nationalization efforts. He stated that ASELSAN will continue to follow this path in line with the National Technology Vision, contributing to the second 100 years of the Republic, known as the “Turkey Century.” The company aims to achieve bigger and more challenging goals in the future.
Regarding the ASELFLIR-500, Akyol pointed out that ASELSAN aims to localize all its components, from chips and detectors to INS, GPS, and lenses. The company focuses on increasing added value, becoming resilient to embargoes, and staying ahead of competitors by developing and mastering components in their products. Akyol stated that ASELSAN has made significant investments in the field of electro-optics, positioning itself as a center of excellence in this area.
In conclusion, Akyol expressed confidence in ASELSAN’s capabilities and highlighted the advantages of their products, especially in terms of range performance, low-light image acquisition, capabilities in foggy environments, and artificial intelligence-supported image processing algorithms. He assured that security forces will experience the difference when using ASELSAN’s products.
As ASELSAN continues its journey in the future, Akyol emphasized their determination to achieve larger, more challenging goals in line with the “Turkey Century” vision. He emphasized the company’s commitment to excellence and their position as a global leader in the field of electro-optics.
