Ashgabat Rings in the New Year
The tallest Christmas tree in Turkmenistan was officially illuminated today in a festive ceremony at the Älem cultural and entertainment center in Ashgabat. This event marks the start of celebrations for the upcoming New Year holiday in the country. The Main Christmas tree, adorned with a shining eight-pointed star and the year 2025, stands at an impressive height of 44 meters with a width of 16 meters.
A magical fairy-tale town has been constructed in the square where the Main Christmas tree is located, adding to the festive atmosphere. The inaugural lighting of the Main Christmas tree was accompanied by a vibrant New Year’s performance featuring theater groups, young artists, and popular pop singers. Characters representing both the outgoing 2024 and the incoming 2025 delighted the audience with poems and songs dedicated to the winter season.
The highlight of the celebration was the dazzling display of lights on the Main Christmas tree, setting the stage for similar illuminations on Christmas trees across cities and villages in Turkmenistan. Festivities and events are underway in various locations, spreading joy and holiday spirit throughout the country.
