Turkey’s First Astronaut Alper Gezeravcı Returning to Earth
The highly anticipated return of Turkey’s first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, is finally underway. The Dragon capsule, which carried Gezeravcı and his three fellow astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-3 space mission, has departed from the ISS at 17:20.
During his 14-day stay at the ISS, Gezeravcı conducted 13 different scientific experiments, representing a significant contribution to the field of space research. The Dragon capsule is expected to reach Earth off the Florida coast in approximately 48 hours, following multiple orbital descent maneuvers.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır expressed his pride and support for Gezeravcı, stating, “Alper Gezeravcı carried out Turkey’s First Manned Space Mission and completed thirteen scientific experiments prepared by Turkish scientists on the International Space Station. He became an inspiration for Turkish youth and future generations.”
Kacır also shared his recent meeting with Gezeravcı, describing him as self-confident and courageous. He emphasized the significance of Gezeravcı’s achievements in the context of Turkish space exploration and expressed eagerness for his return to the world, followed by his home country.
The return of Alper Gezeravcı from his groundbreaking space mission is eagerly anticipated, especially by the Turkish youth and children whom he inspires.
