Ata Zhurt Party, led by Kamchybek Tashiev, opts out of local elections

Ata Zhurt Party Will Not Participate in Local Elections
The Ata Zhurt party has announced that it will not be participating in the upcoming local elections scheduled for November 17. This decision was shared by the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, in a Facebook post.
Tashiev explained that despite some candidates expressing interest in running for deputies from the Ata Zhurt party in certain regions, disputes have arisen regarding leadership and list placements. Many of these candidates have a history of being deputies from parties affiliated with the government.
“As a person who was involved in the founding of the Ata Zhurt party, I declare that it will not participate in the upcoming local council elections on November 17,” Tashiev stated.
He further elaborated that due to the party being associated with his name, he believes it is inappropriate to take part in elections while holding a government position. Additionally, Tashiev stated that he will not be participating with the party in the parliamentary elections in 2026.
Tashiev emphasized that members and supporters of Ata Zhurt are not obligated to participate in elections with the party, and they are free to choose any party they prefer. He expressed his confidence that regardless of the party they are elected from, they will continue to work for the benefit of the people.
Tashiev also made it clear that the government does not support any party or candidate, and government officials are prohibited from assisting candidates in the upcoming elections.
