Suspect in Custody Following Attack on HUDA PAR Provincial Presidency
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced via his social media account that the individual responsible for the attack on HUDA PAR Adana Provincial Presidency has been apprehended and detained. The judicial investigation regarding the incident is still ongoing.
AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik expressed his condolences on social media, condemning the brutal attack on HUDAPAR Adana Provincial President Salih Demir and Provincial Secretary Sacit Pişgin. Çelik also extended wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured Salih Demir. Furthermore, he assured that the security forces swiftly arrested the perpetrator and are conducting a thorough investigation. Addressing the issue of violence targeting politics, Çelik emphasized that every aspect of the incident will be clarified. He also assured the HUDAPAR community of the party’s support and engagement.
Following the incident, HUDA PAR released a written statement denouncing the despicable attack on their Adana Provincial Presidency. They revealed that their Provincial President Salih Demir and Provincial Secretary Sacit Pişgin were assaulted with a knife inside the mosque of the party’s provincial office. Unfortunately, Sacit Pişgin succumbed to his injuries despite the medical interventions. The statement conveyed prayers for his departed soul and extended condolences to his family, relatives, and colleagues.
The Adana Governor’s Office also issued a statement regarding the attack. According to their report, the incident occurred at around 17:40 when an individual named AS attacked several provincial administrators at the HUDA PAR Provincial Presidency building. The assault resulted in injuries to HUDA PAR Adana Provincial President Salih Demir, who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. Tragically, Provincial Secretary Sacit Pişgin lost his life despite all efforts to save him. The Governor’s Office expressed sorrow over the loss of Sacit Pişgin, extended condolences to his grieving family, and wished a swift recovery for HUDA PAR Adana Provincial Chairman Salih Demir.
The investigation into the attack is still ongoing, and the authorities are determined to shed light on all aspects of the incident.
