Authorization for Legal Entities to Produce and Manufacture Specific Precursors
In Uzbekistan, changes have been made to some legislative acts
Legislative changes have recently been enacted in Uzbekistan, with the introduction of Law O‘RQ No. 928 on May 30, 2024. These changes have impacted various legislative acts in the country.
One significant amendment is the abolishment of the procedure for state registration of medicinal substances, as outlined in the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Medicines and Pharmaceutical Activities.” This change aims to streamline processes related to medicinal products in the country.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Health has been entrusted with the authority to classify medicines as prescription or over-the-counter medications, as specified in the laws “On the protection of the health of citizens” and “On medicines and pharmaceutical activities.” This move aims to regulate the distribution and use of medications more effectively.
Another key requirement introduced is the necessity to include information about medicines sold without or with a doctor’s prescription in the instructions for their medical use and in the State Register of Medicines, Medical Devices, and Medical Equipment approved for medical practice. This measure aims to enhance transparency and ensure the safe use of medicines.
Moreover, to boost the production of import-substituting chemical products, the Law “On narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances” now allows legal entities to produce certain precursors identified by the Cabinet of Ministers under List IV, with the appropriate licenses.
These legislative changes are set to come into effect upon their official publication date. These amendments aim to improve various aspects of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors in Uzbekistan, leading to better regulation and oversight of medicinal products and chemical substances.
