Avocado Garden Fire in Alanya Destroys 60 Trees: Latest News from Turkey
A fire broke out in an avocado garden on Sazlısu Street, Yeşilöz District, Alanya, in the evening hours. The cause of the fire is believed to have originated from a power pole and escalated quickly due to the windy conditions. Local residents attempted to tackle the fire themselves before alerting authorities at the 112 Emergency Call Center. Police, health, and fire brigade teams were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality arrived and were able to bring the blaze under control in a short period of time. Unfortunately, the fire resulted in the destruction of nearly 60 avocado trees and several greenhouses. Two individuals affected by the smoke were treated on-site by medical personnel.
