Ayhan Bora Kaplan’s Right-Hand Man Plans to Exploit Repentance, Threatens: “I’ll Kill Your Mother!” – Latest News from Turkey

The trial of 61 defendants, with 18 of them being held in custody, in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization case has entered its 15th hearing at the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court. The courtroom was filled with the defendants, their relatives, and their lawyers as they awaited the proceedings at the Sincan Penal Institution Campus.

During the hearing, the presiding judge announced that the indictment and hearing minutes related to the police officers involved in the investigation phase had been submitted to the court. Additionally, a report from the gendarmerie revealed that the defendant Kaplan had threatened his associate, Fethi Koyuncu, by stating, “I will kill your mother” during a recent incident.

In a previous hearing, the defendant Fethi Koyuncu had expressed his desire to benefit from effective repentance, but later denied submitting any such petition. Another defendant, Mahmut Gökhan Çanga, claimed innocence and alleged that his confession was extracted through torture. He also questioned the suspicious death of Semih Arslan, insisting on his innocence and requesting release.

Similarly, defendant Hasan Can Saraçoğlu, who had been in custody for a year on terrorism charges, maintained his innocence and argued that he was wrongly implicated due to his tattoos and appearance. He pleaded for his release during the hearing.

After hearing the statements from the defendants and their lawyers, the presiding judge decided to adjourn the hearing for the day and resume proceedings the following day. The complex and contentious case involving multiple defendants and serious allegations is expected to continue to unfold in the coming days.
