Ayşe Ergezen appointed as member of the Competition Board
In a recent development, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has signed an appointment decision for Ayşe Ergezen, who will now serve as a member of the Competition Board. This decision has been officially published in the Official Gazette.
Ergezen’s appointment to the Competition Board is in accordance with Articles 22 and 23 of the Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition and Articles 2, 3 and 7 of Presidential Decree No. 3.
So, who is Ayşe Ergezen? Born in 1980 in Balıkesir Gönen, Ergezen’s education and professional background is quite diverse. After completing her primary and secondary education, she went on to study Business Administration and Management Science Systems at Boğaziçi University. She later pursued International Trade at Jönköping University in Sweden and completed her master’s degree in Global Politics from Bahçeşehir University. Ergezen also studied Diplomacy at Oxford University.
Her professional career began at Finansbank, where she worked as a manager. She later started her own business and became a member of the Istanbul Ümraniye Municipal Council. Her involvement in politics led to her appointment as Prime Minister’s Advisor in 2009, and she also ran as a parliamentary candidate from Balıkesir in the June 2015 elections.
Aside from her political involvement, Ergezen is also active in various non-governmental organizations. She holds positions such as Vice President of Üsküdar City Council, Representative President of the Women and Democracy Association (KADEM), and Board Member of KADEM and TÜRGEV.
Notably, Ergezen has served as the Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services and has been involved in coordinating and implementing initiatives for Relatives of Martyrs and Veterans. Now, as a newly appointed member of the Competition Authority, she brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise.
Fluent in English, Ayşe Ergezen is a married mother of four. Her wide-ranging background and professional experience make her a valuable addition to the Competition Board.
