Azerbaijan and Georgia: Key Players in Europe’s Energy Security
President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, highlighted the crucial role that Azerbaijan and Georgia play in ensuring Europe’s energy security during a recent joint press conference with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili. Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan’s natural gas exports to 12 countries, including Georgia, are essential for the region’s energy needs.
The President pointed out that the exports are facilitated through Georgian territory, showcasing the strong synergy between the two countries. He also commended the advancements in transport and communications, such as the construction of new railways and ports, which have further integrated Azerbaijan and Georgia into the Middle Corridor.
With Azerbaijan emerging as a major energy supplier in the region, and Georgia serving as a key transit country, both nations have become integral components of Europe’s energy security framework. The strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia continues to strengthen, paving the way for greater cooperation and economic opportunities in the region.
