Azerbaijan and Moldova discuss potential energy partnership
Azerbaijan and Moldova discussed current and prospective energy cooperation during a recent meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea.
The two sides focused on expanding mutual relations in energy efficiency, promoting renewable energy sources, and energy regulation. Minister Shahbazov shared information on Azerbaijan’s work in natural gas and renewable energy sectors, highlighting initiatives like the Southern Gas Corridor and green energy exports to Europe. The Green Energy Corridor between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary was also discussed, with potential future cooperation opportunities in this area.
Deputy Prime Minister Bolea emphasized the importance of long-term contracts in natural gas supply for energy security. He provided insight into investment-based cooperation opportunities in bioenergy and biogas sectors in Moldova, as well as renewable energy auctions being held in the country. Bolea also mentioned opportunities for Azerbaijani companies to participate in projects in these sectors.
