Russia Unleashes Fresh Wave Of Drone And Missile Attacks On Ukraine
On December 8, Russia launched a new series of deadly drone and missile attacks on several regions of Ukraine, leading to widespread destruction and casualties. Reports from Ukraine’s military and regional officials confirmed at least one fatality, several injuries, and significant damage to civilian and energy infrastructure as a result of the attacks.
An air-raid alert was declared early on December 8 in Kyiv and most Ukrainian regions, including Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kherson, Mykolayiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, they successfully intercepted and shot down 14 out of a total of 19 cruise missiles launched by Russia at Ukrainian territory during the morning of December 8. The air force also reported that part of the enemy’s missiles targeted infrastructure facilities in the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region, while a second group of missiles altered their course towards Kyiv.
Tragically, a Russian missile struck the city of Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in the death of one resident and injuries to several others. The attack also caused extensive damage to residential, commercial, and educational buildings, as well as power lines.
With additional reports of Iranian-made drones targeting the Dnipropetrovsk region and S-300 guided missiles being launched at the Kharkiv region, it is evident that the conflict continues to escalate and take a toll on innocent civilians.
The ongoing assault is part of Russia’s attempts to encircle the industrial city of Avdiyivka in the Donetsk region, which has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance against Russian aggression. Despite the intense fighting and numerous Russian assaults, Ukrainian defenders have managed to maintain control of Avdiyivka.
In a show of support, Germany delivered a new package of military aid to Ukraine on December 8, including shells, drones, vehicles, and military first-aid kits. The German government’s commitment to providing substantial military aid to Kyiv underscores the ongoing international efforts to assist Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression.
As Russia’s attacks on Ukraine persist, the Ukrainian people remain steadfast in their resistance, determined to defend their sovereignty and independence against foreign aggression.
